News Tohoku University Thermos - Keeping the School Spirit Hot! 2019-09-24 University News Tohoku University has collaborated with Thermo Mug - well known makers of thermal receptacles that keep beverages cold in the summer and hot in the winter - to produce a specially designed flask. The limited edition 300ml flask comes in white and features the university's bush clover logo in its original purple. It is part of the university's campaign to reduce the amount of one-use plastic products on campus by encouraging students to carry a flask instead of buying drinks in PET bottles. Since adopting the Japanese government's "Plastics Smart" programme in March 2019, Tohoku University has stepped up its recycling efforts and been urging students and staff to switch from single-use plastic products to reusable bags, mugs and water bottles. The first batch of 100 Tohoku University "Thermo Mug" flasks will be sold exclusively on Homecoming Weekend, September 28 - 29.
