Account for SociologySociology is a field which a lay person might have difficulties to understand, compared to the related fields like economics or psychology. This means that we need the further accountability of sociological research. It is not that sociologists pursue the popularity, but rather the readiness to explain what sociologists do in their research; what we sociologists can do for? For this purpose, we have to break down the abstruse theoretical works and make them easy to understand without losing the essentials. We also have to give a simple and clear feedbacks when doing empirical research. A request for accountability of research, however, sometimes leads to a mass production of trivial empirical outcomes. To avoid it, we have to be aware of the tension between doing a substantive research and the accountability of them. Home Page researchmapページ © Ritsumeikan Univ. All rights reserved.
